Caterina Sforza vs. Clovis I: Strategy and Usage Guide in Evony

The new Epic Historic General, Caterina Sforza, is a duty general (Bunker Officer) in Evony: the King’s Return now. The general has been released with the new round of Regata Storica events in 2025. This guide will analyze the buffs and debuffs of the general, how to obtain the general, and the comparison between her and another Bunker Officer.

Caterina Sforza Background

Caterina Sforza was a central figure of the Italian Renaissance. Born to Milan’s Sforza line, she married a pope’s illegitimate son. A deft power broker, she seized Castel Sant’Angelo and forced the College of Cardinals to yield, making her name in Rome.
In 1488, after her husband’s assassination, she became regent for her young son and ruled Forlì and Imola. She crushed unrest, steadied the army, and repelled repeated attacks, securing her family’s rule.
Over the next decade, she strengthened fortifications, improved governance, and eased taxes. In 1499, French and papal forces besieged Forlì. She refused to surrender, fought for months in armor, and fell only after a hard defense. She was hailed as the “Tiger of Forlì”.
Beyond politics, she loved gardening, studied alchemy and remedies, and supported arts and letters. Her collections remain prized. Through betrayals and reversals, she never yielded, a ruler and heroine history remembers.

To summarize, we can draw the following conclusions:

  1. Bunker Protection Capacity: Caterina Sforza is superior to Clovis I. Using Caterina as a Bunker Officer allows the Bunker to accommodate more troops.

  2. Offensive Focus: If you prioritize offense, Caterina is the better choice. Most of her buffs apply to more than just in-city troops, and some provide offensive-only benefits.

  3. Defensive Focus: If you prefer a defensive strategy, Clovis I is a better fit, as his buffs focus more on in-city troops, especially in-city ranged troops and siege machines.

  4. Debuff Effects on Enemy Troops: Both have similar debuffs on enemy ranged troops and siege machines. The difference lies in debuffs against ground and mounted troops: Caterina provides a strong debuff to enemy mounted troops’ attack, which Clovis I lacks, while Clovis I has debuffs against enemy ground and mounted defense and HP, which Caterina does not have.
